This summer, SBS6 Netherlands is set to launch a brand-new songwriting competition called I Want Your Song. Behind every hit song is a hit songwriter... and its not always the recording artists themselves. On this show, five unknown songwriters get their chance to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight. Each episode features a prominent Dutch recording artist who is looking for their next big hit. While there are many great singers in the country, that doesn't necessarily mean there’s an abundance of great songs... Every week, five songwriters are invited to pitch their songs to the recording artist with the help of a live band. The audience is filled with 100 of the artist’s biggest fans. They’ll be extra enthusiastic but also extra critical of each song. If the artist is ever in doubt over a song, he can ask the fans for advice. After all, they know better than anyone which song has the potential to be their next big hit. But it’s the artist themselves who ultimately makes the decision.
Which song will they connect with the most? The song that the artist chooses at the end of the episode is immediately available for download and streaming - and ready to storm the charts.
